2023 has been declared the Year of Accessible Tourism in Queensland.
With 1 in 5 Australian's having a verified disability it is estimated that the annual expenditure by tourists with a disability (both overnight and day) based on National Visitor Survey (NVS) data is around $3.2 billion annually.
The 2023 Year of Accessible Tourism in Queensland includes:
- $10 million Accessible Tourism Queensland Fund
- $1 million Awareness and Capability Program
- $1 million Visitor Experience Development initiative.
The Accessible Tourism Queensland Fund will support small to medium size tourism and events businesses to develop or enhance accessibility for people of all abilities.

- Inclusive Recruitment – Thursday 13 July, 3pm and Wednesday 4 October, 11am.
- Accessibility Adjustment and Universal Design – Thursday 10 August, 4pm and Tuesday 31 October, 11am.
- Accessible Web and Online Content Design – Wednesday 6 September, 11am.
- Queensland Tourism Week (details TBA) – Monday 20 November, 4pm.
